Blizzard just launched the Hearthstone beta! It’s been a long time coming, but some lucky few are finally able to throw down cards and watch the pretty spell effects that kill our opponents.
Blizzard has an official post with a lot of details, but I want to specify a few things specific to fans of The Happy Hearthstone podcast.
Myself and most of my regular co-hosts got into the beta this morning
I downloaded the game client and played through the first tutorial (voiceovers all over the place–I’m super impress so far!). Our regular co-hosts also go in, which includes Derrick, Dan, and Chris.
We will be livestreaming the game as much as possible
I’m still collecting livestream links for all of us, and will update this post as they’re ready. But we’ll be trying to livestream as much as we can to ensure you can see the game in action and have all your questions answered.

So we can talk about, and show you anything in-game on the livestream and the podcast! Send your questions in by the truckloads!
You can spend money in the beta, but all cards will be wiped and you will get a refund in gold
They’re going to be changing cards during the beta test, based on feedback and testing evaluation. After they feel comfortable with the state of cards, they will wipe everyone’s collections completely (even packs earned or crafted). Then everyone will get a refund for all the real money they spent in the cash shop (refund comes in gold, the in-game currency, not a credit card reimbursement).
After that one wipe, they don’t anticipate needing to ever wipe collections, or change the existing cards again.
